His early work included the Tropfest-winning short Australian Summer, music videos, commercials and television, earning an Australian Directors’ Guild nomination for the landmark documentary series Great Southern Land.

Luke created, produced and directed Low Life, High Life, CANCELLED and ReCANCELLED, four acclaimed series that have reached millions of viewers and won more than 70 international awards. His feature directorial debut, I Met A Girl, starring Brenton Thwaites and Lily Sullivan, premiered at Busan and was released as a Netflix Original in Australia. He followed it with the Australian-Spanish feature UnCANCELLED, filmed amid Valencia’s Fallas festival.

Working across Australia, Europe and the US, Luke is drawn to distinctive, emotionally honest stories with wit, momentum and a little beautiful disorder. He takes the work seriously. Himself, considerably less so.

A chameleon in the truest sense, he moves between acting, writing, directing, producing and voice work with alarming ease. A fluent Greek speaker, Socs directed and associate produced Homespun, first as an online series and later reworked as a feature. It won Best Web Series at festivals in San Francisco and Paris, attracted ABC Commercial as distributor and was acquired by ABC, Stan and Apple, with international distribution through Anuvu.

He has helmed live and virtual productions of The Hope Song, a verbatim theatre project giving voice to people living with mental-health challenges, and was one of nine artists commissioned nationally by Critical Stages for Come to Where I Am. He is associate producer and lead in the satirical horror feature Forever Young.

At More Sauce, Socs is a company director, working across development, writing, producing and directing. Staying in one lane was never really the plan.
